UN Secretary-General Calls for Ban on Fossil Fuel Ads to Support Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C Global Warming Target

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called on world leaders to ban fossil fuel ads and for advertisers to stop accepting new fossil fuel clients while dropping their existing ones. This move is part of a broader effort to help keep alive the Paris Agreement’s most ambitious target of halting global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius. The UN has also recommended that media and tech companies stop selling fossil fuel ad space, and advertisers stop accepting fossil fuel client clients while planning to drop their existing clients.
