U.S. Clean Energy Powers 65 Million Homes; Solar Leads Growth with 3 GW Added in Q3.

The U.S. has enough clean energy to power 65 million homes, according to American Clean Power’s Q3 market update report. The report noted that solar continues to be the primary source of energy being built in the United States. With nearly 56 GW of operational clean power available, Texas leads the state with the largest portfolio, California comes in second, and is the national leader in solar and energy storage active capacity. ACP noted that of the 5.5 GW of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage that came online in Q3, 3 GW of the total was represented by solar. Over 60% of clean power projects in project pipelines across the country are solar PV. Battery energy storage installations also grew rapidly, growing 63% year-over-year in the third quarter.
