The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has identified a location for a transmission line in Wilson and Rutherford Counties in an effort to prepare for growth, increase power reliability and provide cleaner energy. The new power line will start at a tap point on TVA’s Lebanon-Murfreesboro Transmission Line and extend west to Middle Tennessee Electric’s Fall Creek Substation in Rutherford County. While a National Environmental Policy Act review is pending, the selected route is expected to have a minimum impact on the area. The project will be less than 3 miles and built using single-pole, steel structures on a 100-foot-wide right of way. Property owners will be compensated for the easements at fair market value. TVA is investing $2.8 billion to strengthen the power grid across its service area through 2027.
