Toyota Acknowledges Struggles with Hydrogen Mirai, Focuses on Hybrid Fuel-Cell Technology Amid Limited Refueling Infrastructure.

Toyota has admitted that the Hydrogen Fueled Mirai (Mirai) has not been successful, stating that it has been difficult to achieve hydrogen fueling stations and has limited sales. The company plans to continue refining hybrid fuel-cell technology for passenger vehicles and will not comment on future products regarding the Mirai. The decision will not affect the research and development of hydrogen combustion engines. Toyota’s chief technology officer, Hiroki Nakajima, stated that there are only 57 hydrogen refueling locations in the US, all in California.
