Tigo Energy Launches Predict+ Tool to Enhance Power Forecasting for Solar Producers Amidst Extreme Weather Challenges.

Tigo Energy, a UK-based company that uses AI and machine learning to forecast power generation and consumption across a range of endpoints, has developed a tool called Predict+ to help actors in the power space make informed decisions about power demand and electricity generation. The tool is designed to aid actors in power space such as solar independent power producers (IPPs), who also operate and sell the energy proceeds to the market. Tigo’s main users are IPPs, which also need load forecasting and energy retailers. The company’s product also integrates weather forecasts into its modelling to predict how changing climatic conditions will affect solar power generation. Despite this, extreme weather events have become a growing problem for the solar industry, with examples of “golf ball-sized” hail falling on a Texas solar farm causing significant damage.
