Tenaska Energy Storage Seeks Approval for 200MW BESS Project in Skagit County, Washington, Construction Set for 2025.

Tenaska Energy Storage (BESS) is seeking approval for its proposed 200MW/800MWh standalone BESS in Skagit County, Washington. The developer applied to Washington regulator’s ‘one-stop’ siting process, which involves a review of the application by an independent consultant, a land use consistency hearing, an environmental impact statement, and a reviewof project permits. The Governor of Washington will then make a decision on certification based on these findings. This application is Tenaska’s first utilising the state approval route after local government-led permitting attempts. The BESS project is expected to begin construction in August 2025 and be in-service by October 2026.
