T&D World Live Super Sessions will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from Oct. 1-3, 2024. These sessions cover four topics that utilities are dealing with in the energy transition, including grid transformation, resiliency and T&D operations. The sessions will be chosen by a utility board and cover topics such as the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into the legacy transmission and distribution system using transactive energy principles. The future of electricity will have a net zero, or real zero energy, by 2050, which has implications on current planning, design, operations and maintenance of the grid that delivers energy. This session will discuss efforts to build a safe, reliable, resilient and affordable grid that will deliver real zero electricity. Panelists will also discuss long-duration energy storage (LDES) technology, which plays a crucial role in decarbonizing the electric grid by addressing intermittency of renewable sources, and discuss challenges such as scalability, compatibility, and regulatory frameworks for successful deployment at scale.
