Spending Bill to Include Rider Against Gas Stove Regulation Amid GOP Praise and Democratic Reassurances.

Spending legislation expected to include a rider against gas stove rulemaking at the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Democrats and the White House have claimed that the final fiscal 2024 spending packages will include no “poison pill” riders. However, Republicans are praising some wins, including the gas stove language. House GOP leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La), shared these victories during a closed-door meeting. Rep. Ralph Norman (R) from S.C. said that gas stoves were among the highlights, as he called the administration’s decision to ban them “ludicrous”.
