US wholesale energy provider Southern Power has opened its 150-MW South Cheyenne solar power plant in Wyoming, expanding its clean energy fleet. The project was acquired from Qcells USA Corp, the US subsidiary of South Korea’s Hanwha Group, and will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Black Hills Energy. This marks Southern Power’s first solar facility in Wyoming and brings its total solar generation portfolio to over 2,740 MW. The company’s renewable fleet includes 30 solar and 15 wind facilities in operation or under construction.
