The Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) is supporting the buildout of a secure U.S. supply chain, aiming to achieve the White House’s goal of 80% clean energy supply by 2030. SETO focuses on advancing technology and accelerating solar deployments by driving innovation in technologies, solar panels supply chain to inverters to soft costs. While working to scale up solar, SETO is also focusing on ensuring that solar can support reliability, resilience and the security of the grid. The Director of SETO, Dr. Becca Jones-Albertus, highlighted challenges such as geographical diversity and the concentrated global supply chain of silicon supply chain in China. She also highlighted the progress made in solar deployment, with the U.K. now being the second largest market behind China.
