The Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps) of Engineers should complete its implementation of new policies and prioritize unfinished projects ahead of a major water infrastructure bill expected this year, according to senators. The Environment and Public Works Committee is working on the Water Resources Development Act, a biennial bill directing the corps’ work on flood control, navigation, and ecosystem restoration. This year’s version of the bill will focus on individual water projects, but both Republican and Democrat senators expressed frustration that the corps has not fully implemented provisions included in past WRDAs.
