Senator Sullivan Questions NRC Nominee Matthew Marzano’s Qualifications Amid Concerns Over Lack of Experience

Senate Republican Senator Sullivan has questioned the qualifications of his Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) nominee, Matthew Marzano, regarding his appointment to the position. This follows an article by Ted Nordhaus, executive director at the pro-nuclear think tank Breakthrough Institute, alleging that he may be the least qualified commissioner ever seated at the agency. Sullivan responded to these concerns during a hearing on the Environment and Public Works Committee, stating that there is concern that Marzana’s lack of experience is not up to par for other commissioners and may be among the least experienced commissioners ever seated.
