Senate Republicans Unite to Repeal EPA’s Soot Standard, Claiming It Harms Jobs and Economy.

Almost all Senate Republicans are united behind a measure to repeal the EPA’s strengthened soot standard, a measure introduced by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell under a Congressional Review Act disapproval resolution. The resolution would repeal the tighter annual exposure limit, which EPA predicts will save thousands of lives and is expected to significantly impact the economy. McConnell called the limit “another job-killing mandate” that would impose more unilateral economic pain at home. He also criticized EPA’s approach, which he said exceeds current regulatory standards of most of our European allies and China, as well as the US.
