Senate Republicans are beginning a process to “reclaim legislative authority” following a Supreme Court ruling overturning the Chevron doctrine, which gave agencies deference when interpreting ambiguous laws. Over a dozen GOP senators are forming a “working group” to come up with recommendations and best practices for legislating following the court’s decision. While Democrats argue that Chevron’s fall will give judges more power to overrule agency experts, Republicans argue it will return policymaking responsibilities to Capitol Hill.
