Senate Leaders Propose Bill to Secure Critical Mineral Supplies Amid Growing Dependence on China.

The US Senate Intelligence Chair Mark Warner (D-Va.) and ranking member Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) are leading a bill to address China’s growing mineral dependence. The bill aims to increase diplomatic efforts to secure diverse critical mineral supplies and includes greater involvement from the International Development Finance Corp. and the Export-Import Bank. It also proposes creating a fund to support mineral investments. The global demand for critical minerals continues to grow at an exponential rate, with the U.S. urgently identifying secure sources of these minerals for national security and critical infrastructure applications.
