Senate Democrats Push for Stricter Restrictions on 45X Tax Credit to Protect American Manufacturing from Foreign Influence.

Some Senate Democrats are expressing concern about a tax credit, 45X, intended to incentivize domestic manufacturing of clean energy equipment. The credit should exclude products that contain parts from China and other adversaries, according to Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Brown is working with colleagues from both parties to tighten restrictions on the credit to ensure taxpayer money is not going to Chinese companies or other foreign entities. He emphasized that the tax code is supposed to incentivise American manufacturing and building out the domestic supply chain.
