The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee is set to consider dozens of bills, including proposals related to fisheries, record heat and lithium ion batteries. Also on the agenda is a vote on the nomination of Chad Cary to be director of NOAA’s Commissioned Officer Corps and the Office of Marine and Aviation Operations. The committee will also consider S. 2645, the “Preventing HEAT Illness and Death Act,” which would enable NOAA to establish the National Integrated Heat Health Information System Interagency Committee to prepare for extreme heat conditions.
