The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing next week on Shannon Estenoz, President Joe Biden’s nominee for deputy secretary at the Interior Department. This is the first step towards confirmation, as Interior hasn’t had a Senate-confirmed deputy since Tommy Beaudreau’s departure last year. If confirmed, Estenz would replace Laura Daniel-Davis, whose bid for Senate confirmation failed due to opposition to her positions on fossil fuels.
