Senate Committee Leaders Open to Biden’s Nominee for Interior’s No. 2 Position Amid Potential Opposition

The chair and ranking member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Joe Manchin (D-W.Va), are open to President Joe Biden’s nominee for the No. 2 job at the Interior Department. Shannon Estenoz, the current assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks, would replace Laura Daniel-Davis if confirmed. This nomination could face significant opposition in the Senate, with some senators expressing dissatisfaction with Interior’s recent decisions.
