The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee cleared Shannon Estenoz, a deputy Interior nominee, by a vote of 16-3. Estanoz, who would replace acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis, currently serves as the assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks. She received high praise from both sides of the aisle during her confirmation hearing and faced only minor resistance during the markup. The most prominent Republican dissents were not due to Estenz’s nomination.
