Sen. Ron Wyden Urges Quick Federal Payments for Water Access to Tribal Nations and Rural Communities

Oregon Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden has called for the Bureau of Reclamation to expedite federal payments to communities that lack reliable access to water. Wyden argues that tribal nations and rural communities have been subject to “red tape and bureaucracy” for their requests, causing them to be “unacceptable”. He is urging the Bureau to disburse funds from the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes $550 million for “water access grants” to disadvantaged communities in 21 states and territories.
