Sen. Joe Manchin’s income from his family’s coal business, Enersystems, has significantly decreased as the industry shrinks. Last year, Manchin earned $389,987 from the coal supply company he founded decades ago, a sharp drop from the $613,142 he made five years ago. This comes as Manchin has long supported the coal industry, advocating for policies that benefit the industry while opposing policies that shift the US economy away from fossil fuels. His support for the 2022 climate law is contingent on inclusion of oil and gas lease sales.
