Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, the top Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, is leading efforts to overturn the EPA’s new power plant climate rule. Capito plans to introduce a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn what she calls “the EPA’s job-killing regulations”. The agency is implementing new emissions reduction standards for existing coal and new gas plants, which Capito and others believe could lead to higher energy prices and volatility across the nation’s power sector.
