Bank of Nova Scotia (TSE:BNS), or Scotiabank, has raised EUR-1-bn (USD 1.06bn) in its debut European green bond, marking the largest green or sustainability bond offering by a Canadian financial or corporate to date. The five-year senior fixed-rate green bond will be used to finance or refinance new or existing eligible green assets. The bank’s first sustainable finance product was launched earlier in April under its Sustainable Issuance Framework. The eligible green categories include low-carbon energy, energy efficiency and green buildings.
