RWE AG Raises $2 Billion in First Green US Dollar Bond, Plans $20 Billion Investment in Renewable Energy.

German energy group RWE AG has issued its first green US dollar bond, raising USD 2 billion (EUR 1.88bn), marking its first non-European green bond placement outside Europe. The offering attracted strong investor interest, with the order book 3.8 times oversubscribed. The company plans to issue bonds averaging 3-3.5 billion annually until 2030 in both euros and US dollars. The US is the largest market outside of Europe, with RWE planning to further invest in onshore and offshore wind, solar and batteries there with investments of about EUR 20 billion by 2030. The net proceeds will be used for RWE’s Growing Green programme, which aims to invest EUR 55 billion globally and expand its green portfolio to over 65 GW.
