RWE AG Begins Construction on 150-MW Solar Park in Illinois, Expanding Renewable Portfolio and Creating Jobs.

German energy group RWE AG has begun construction on a 150-MW solar park in Jefferson County, Illinois, its first utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) project in the US state. The complex will expand RWE’s installed renewables portfolio in Illinois to more than 750 MW. The renewable energy credits from the new park will be sold to utilities Ameren, ComEd and MidAmerican Energy. The project represents over €36 million in economic activity and is expected to create over 200 jobs in the construction phase. RWE already operates three wind farms in Illinois with a combined capacity of 605 MW.
