Rondo Energy and Aramco Sign MoU for 1 GWh Heat Battery Technology to Cut Emissions.

Rondo Energy, a US maker of electric thermal energy storage systems, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabian Oil Company (TADAWUL:2222), for the potential installation of up to 1 GWh of its heat battery technology. The companies are working on engineering plans for a first industrial-scale deployment of Rondo Heat Batteries to reduce emissions from Aramco’s facilities. They also plan to collaborate on a research and development (R&D) investigation on possible applications of Ronde’s technology to hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and direct air capture (DAC) projects. The MoU was part of three agreements signed by Aramco during a visit by the US secretary of energy to the Kingdom.
