Republican Buddy Carter Criticizes Biden’s EV Policies While Supporting Electric Vehicle Growth in His District.

Buddy Carter, a Republican who supports electric vehicles (EVs), has been critical of policies aimed at increasing EV sales. However, as chair of an influential Energy and Commerce subcommittee, Carter has joined statements and letters criticizing the Biden administration for its EV initiatives. His most recent target is the EPA tailpipe rule, which would mandate a significant reduction in vehicular emissions. Carter argues that he is anti-regulation, not anti-EV, and that the government should not be mandating anything. His stance comes amid increasing resistance from Republicans on Biden administration actions to boost electric vehicles. At least 37 congressional districts currently represented by Republicans have seen expansions of new clean energy operations fostered by Biden-era climate and infrastructure laws.
