Rep. John Curtis (R-Utah), who founded the House Conservative Climate Caucus in 2021, is handing over leadership to Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who will only be the second lawmaker to chair the 85-member organization. Curtis is preparing to leave the House as he competes in the Utah GOP primary to replace retiring Republican Sen. Mitt Romney, even if he wins a term in the Senate, this requires him to give up his seat in the House. Curtis plans to take on the title of “chair emeritus” as part of his preparation for his departure from the House in 2020. Miller-meeks officially took the top spot on the caucus on April 1.
