Qcells and Microsoft sign 8-year deal for 12 GW solar modules amid U.S. transformer shortage concerns.

Qcells has signed an eight-year module and EPC agreement with Microsoft, promising to supply 12 GW of modules and provide EPC services. The agreement is part of an effort to address a shortage of distribution transformers in the US. Auxin Solar, a small solar panel manufacturer, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Commerce and Customs and Border Patrol for alleged antidumping violations. Utility trade groups are calling for $1.2 billion in federal funding to boost U.K. manufacturing of transformers. A small town in Maine has banned commercial solar installations greater than 40 kW within its limits.
