Danish wind developer, Ørsted, has announced a significant impairment of over $500 million due to delays in an offshore wind farm project in the US and the cancellation of a green hydrogen plant in Sweden. The Revolution Wind project, located off the coasts of Connecticut and Rhode Island, has experienced delays, contributing significantly to the financial setback. The company recorded an impairment of 3.9 billion Danish kroner ($580 million) for the second quarter. The delays have put financial strain on ØRsted’s financial health, complicating their offshore wind development plans. In addition, �’rsted has decided to cancel a Swedish hydrogen plant project, part of a financial write-down. The decision underscores the financial risks associated with pioneering technologies and renewable energy projects.
