The Ontario government has allocated $5.9 million to support nine projects integrating hydrogen into the province’s electricity grid. Atura Power secured $4.1 million for a project that will blend hydrogen with natural gas, marking a significant milestone as the largest low-carbon hydrogen blending project connected to the grid in Canadian history. Additional projects include $498,000 for Western University to develop a demonstration site evaluating solar-generated and biogas-generated hydrogen, Volta Energy in Toronto for research on reversible solid oxide hydrogen cells technology, and the Transition Accelerator in Hamilton for research about the region’s potential as a hub for hydrogen investment.
