NorthStar Clean Energy Launches 180-MW Solar Park in Arkansas to Power General Motors Operations in MISO Territory.

NorthStar Clean Energy has opened a 180-MW solar park in Arkansas to supply the operations of General Motors (GM) in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) territory. The Newport photovoltaic (PV) farm is expected to generate roughly 410,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to cover the consumption of over 30,000 Arkansas homes. It will be run under a 15-year power purchase agreement with General Motors, providing electricity for its locations within the MISO area, including those in Michigan and Missouri. The power off-take will support GM’s goal to reduce its Scope 2 energy emissions globally through energy efficiency enhancements and the use of renewable electricity.
