NexWafe Expands to US, Plans 6GW Wafer Capacity with Innovative Manufacturing Process and Leadership from Industry Veteran.

NexWafe is expanding to the US, aiming to create 6GW of wafer capacity. The company is currently assessing potential manufacturing locations and securing partnerships for domestic wafer supply. The US subsidiary will be led by Jonathan Pickering, former president of Chinese solar manufacturer JA Solar Americas and vice president of Applied Materials. This could create a significant bottleneck in the supply chain for domestic silicon wafers, leading to many module manufacturers relying on imported cells. NexWafe’s innovative EpiNex direct ‘gas-to-wafer’ manufacturing process aims to manufacture high-performance American-made, thin silicon waferers while reducing the carbon footprint compared to current technology.
