Nextracker’s NX Horizon Trackers Cut Carbon Footprint, Paving Way for Sustainable Steel Production and Solar Power.

Nextracker has announced its NX Horizon trackers, which produce a 35% smaller carbon footprint than traditional basic oxygen furnace (BOF) processing. The company’s production process involves electric arc furnace (EAF) processing, rather than traditional BOF processing. Wood Mackenzie expects the share of EAF in global steel production to increase from around 28% to 50% by 2050, with an estimated investment of US$130 billion needed to facilitate this transition. Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker, highlighted the company’s commitment to decarbonising solar power through circular and renewably powered steelmaking, optimising logistics, and careful selection of raw material providers. He also highlighted the importance of Scope 3 emissions, which were not included in the final ruling on new reporting requirements for US companies.
