NextEra Energy CEO John Ketchum downplayed the possibility of Republican lawmakers repealing the Inflation Reduction Act if former president Donald Trump is re-elected in November. The company highlighted key growth opportunities for the company, including securing contracts to build transmission projects in the PJM Interconnection, California Independent System Operator and Southwest Power Pool footprints. Ketchom also mentioned that the company has attracted interest in buying NextEra energy tax credits. Despite concerns about the 2024 election and potential political upheaval, Ketcham dismissed concerns that these projects would impact NextEsra’s development plans. Despite a 21% drop in shares in the past six months, the company’s shares ticked upward after its Q4 earnings.
