New York Launches NYSolarCast; Illinois to Install 4.95 MW Solar Project, Boosting Renewable Energy Access.

The state of New York has approved a free solar projection tool, NYSolarCast, which outperformed commercial competition in a year-long analysis. The project will install a 4.95 MW agrivoltaic/community solar project on 36 acres in Illinois, generating enough clean, renewable solar energy to power 1,100 homes each year. The federal community solar program has been extended to low-income households in eligible states by offering $31 average monthly bill savings. The Department of Energy is inviting more states to join the program, which vets solar providers and integrates consumer protections. The 2024 solar eclipse will affect solar production across the U.S.
