New York Democrats Propose Bill to Cut Plastic Waste, Addressing Recycling and Producer Responsibility Amid Consumer Cost Concerns.

Democratic lawmakers in New York are working on a measure to reduce the amount of plastic and packaging waste headed to landfills. The extended producer responsibility bill aims to reduce packaging use, increase recycling, and charge producers of consumer goods for the costs of disposing of packaging. However, there are concerns about the costs for consumers due to the legislative session set to end June 6.
