New Jersey Residents Favor Renewable Energy Over Fossil Fuels

A poll conducted by the Hughes Center in New Jersey has found that most residents want to prioritise renewable energy development over fossil fuel. Solar power received the highest support, with 64% and 41% respectively, while wind received 41% and nuclear received 33%. The poll also found that while affordability should be the top priority in state energy policy, most residents also want a move towards a clean energy future. The poll was conducted before the Senate Republicans passed the Trump administration’s domestic policy bill, which includes provisions to end federal tax credits and phase in a new tax for solar and wind industries. Over half of those polled blame utility companies, state officials, large corporations or businesses, and the federal government for the dramatic increase in energy prices.
