National Grid Renewables Launches 128-MW Solar Park in South Dakota, Expected to Power 37,000 Homes.

National Grid Renewables has launched commercial operations at its largest solar photovoltaic (PV) park in South Dakota, Wild Springs. The 128-MW complex will generate electricity for a regional electric cooperative and is expected to provide about USD 29.5 million (EUR 27.6m) in direct economic impact over the first 20 years of operation. Located in Pennington County, the park is equipped with First Solar’s Series 6 thin-film modules and its annual output is estimated to meet the demand of about 37,000 homes. Construction began last summer, with Minnesota-based Ames Construction serving as building contractor.
