Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MISUBFJ) has invested in a USD-100-million equity funding round for Illinois-based LanzaJet, a sustainable aviation fuel producer. The investment will help the company scale-up its production capabilities and capacity to deploy its ethanol-to-SAF process technology. Lanzajet has been supported by Southwest Airlines, Microsoft, Groupe ADP, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Breakthrough Energy, British Airways, Mitsui & Co, Shell and Suncor Energy. In March, the company announced plans to supply a new AF facility for Southwest Airlines.
