McCarthy Building Companies Targets IRA Labor Bonuses, Creating 800+ Solar Jobs Across 1.1GW Portfolio Projects.

McCarthy Building Companies is targeting IRA labour bonuses for over 1.1GW solar portfolio projects, four of which are set to create over 800 new solar construction jobs. The company aims to meet wage and apprenticeship requirements under the IRA, which allows EPCs and developers to reap financial rewards for using government-approved apprentices and meeting wage requirements. McCarthy developed a Department of Labour-approved apprentice programme in 2021 to comply with IRA requirements and has been piloting this scheme at a project in Texas earlier in the year to ensure compliance with the IRA before rolling out to its other operations. The IRA had already boosted the US renewables sector by 100,000 new jobs as of February.
