Maxeon has filed a lawsuit against REC Solar over US TOPCon cell patent infringement, following its investigation into several companies in November. This follows a lawsuit launched by Maxeon against solar manufacturer Canadian Solar in March. This is the second patent infringement lawsuit filed in the US in less than a month, following the company’s lawsuit against Canadian Solar. The company has also filed two lawsuits against Chinese solar manufacturers Aiko and Tongwei, both in Germany, alleging infringement of Maxeon’s European patent for solar cell architecture. The lawsuits relate to Maxeon’s shingled solar cell panel technology, European patent no. EP3522045 B1, which it claims Tongwei has infringed on in the German market.
