Former Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) has warned that political rhetoric and the practical realities of energy production are creating an issue that undermines energy reliability and environmental objectives. Speaking to POWER during CERAweek by S&P Global, she emphasized the need for reconciling political actions with the practical demands of energy systems. Landrieau, who chaired the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee, is championing Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future, a coalition of major natural gas energy and infrastructure players, including energy companies and equipment vendors, and pipeline, contractor, and engineering unions. The coalition is partnering with “clean power” trade organizations like the American Clean Power Association (ACP), which champions renewables technologies like wind, solar, and energy storage.
