Key Capture Energy (KCE) CEO, Jeff Bishop, has stated that the key to success as an energy storage IPP is being a first mover in markets such as ERCOT in Texas, New York ISO and MISO in the Midwest. The company has been a first-mover in these markets, particularly in the RTO and ISO territories previously overlooked by others. Bishop, who was one of the few openly gay CEOs in the energy industry, announced his intention to step down as CEO in August last year as the company brought online another 100MW of 100MW in ERCot. Brian Hayes, successor, discussed the company’s development strategy and building up its software and asset optimisation capabilities in-house. Key Capture Energy’s BESS model has always been to operate its own and operate its BESS assets.
