Kamala Harris Selects Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Vice Presidential Running Mate, Earning Praise from Climate Activists.

Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her vice presidential running mate, a move that has been welcomed by climate change activists. Walz, who served in his second term as governor, was praised for his environmental initiatives and for his support for a bipartisan infrastructure package in the state. The announcement did not mention Walz’s role in championing of sweeping climate action in Minnesota. Harris, the current vice president, won the Democratic nomination and will compete against Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance at the Democratic National Convention later this month. The pick comes as a sign that a Harris administration is taking climate action seriously, according to Sunrise Movement spokesperson Stevie O’Hanlon.
