Vice President Kamala Harris announced federal funding to help auto supply companies transition to manufacturing parts for electric vehicles. $100 million will be allocated for auto-parts manufacturers to expand or convert facilities to increase production of supplies for electric cars. This includes $50 million from an Energy Department grants program that funds partnerships with states to help suppliers convert from manufacturing internal combustion engine parts to manufacturing components for electric vehicle. The Energy Department also plans to set aside up to $50m from another grant program to aid manufacturing diversification and conversion projects.
