Japan’s power generator, JERA, has partnered with ExxonMobil to develop a low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production project in the United States, aiming to revolutionize the global energy landscape by leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic collaboration. The project is set to become the world’s largest low-car hydrogen production plant at ExxonMobil’s Baytown Complex in Texas, with a capacity of 900,000 tonnes of low-Car hydrogen and over one million tonnes of ammonia annually. The partnership also includes plans to explore ownership participation in the project and secure approximately 500,000 tones annually for Japan’s growing demand of low carbon ammonia. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to driving the transition towards a decarbonized society on a global scale.
