Clean energy firm Intersect Power LLC has commissioned a 500-MW solar farm and battery energy storage system in Riverside County, California. The Oberon Solar + Storage site spans roughly 2,600 acres of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and marks the first project to be completed under the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP). The power generating facility will produce enough electricity to meet the power demand of over 207,000 homes annually. The project was funded through portfolio level term debt, tax equity, and construction financing commitments. Offers include Calpine Energy Solutions, Constellation, Ava Community Energy, Microsoft and San Diego Community Power.
