House Rules Committee Blocks Key Amendments in Energy Legislation Amid GOP Critique of Biden’s Environmental Policies.

The House Rules Committee has blocked several amendments to legislation that would allow permitting for projects affecting federal waters. The legislation, H.R. 7023, was the only one for which Rules made amendments in order for debate. Other amendments included proposals to block royalty rate increases for oil companies drilling on public lands, prohibit a moratorium on fracking for oil and natural gas, and repeal the Inflation Reduction Act’s greenhouse gas reduction fund. The House Republicans are using this week’s energy week to attack the Biden administration’s energy and environment policies.
